Why You Need to Go
Your dental health is vital to your overall well being. Your mouth is tied into your general health, so it is important to be aware of your dental care. Currently, the ADA recommends everyone visit their dental office for exams and cleanings twice a year. It is especially important for kids to visit the dentist twice a year so that their oral health and development can be monitored and the correct preventative treatment applied. Even denture wearers should visit the dentist at least once a year to check for mouth sores and oral cancers.
Before You Go
Before you go to the dentist, here are a few things you need to remember. At the Office
Step 1: X-Rays: Our trained dental assistants are pleased to meet you! They will bring you back to the exam suites and begin your exam by completing a quick oral health questionnaire with you. Be sure to tell the assistant if anything in your mouth is bothering you. They will then take dental xrays so that Dr. Mike can see your bone structure and properly examine your teeth for decay.
Step 2: Meet Dr. Mike!: After your xrays have developed, Dr. Mike will come in and introduce himself and discuss your concerns. He will review your xrays and prepare for the exam.
Step 3: Exam Time!: Dr. Mike will complete a thorough oral examination at this time. He will diagnose any problems. He will probe your gums for periodontal disease and check your overall dental health. He will complete an oral cancer exam as well. He will complete a TMJ exam to check for dysfunction. Dr. Mike will then discuss his findings with you, explain what caused the problems and what your treatment options are. After your exam you can schedule to come back for a cleaning or whatever treatment you may need.
